ESG activities & Priorities

Land promotion

Environmental

We:

  • Promote development sites in sustainable locations close to motorway network, existing amenities and identified need to leave a lasting legacy.​
     

  • Preserve and create green spaces to promote biodiversity, improve air quality, and enhance the users’ overall well-being.
    ​

  • Design development with water conservation and sustainable drainage solutions to mitigate water-related impacts.
    ​

  • Design developments that encourage walking, cycling and the use of public transport and electric vehicles.
    ​

  • Ensure our schemes comply with ever evolving environmental legislation.
    ​

  • Produce design charters for every outline masterplan, promoting sustainable and attractive delivery in development 
    ​

  • Are introducing sustainability assessments for each site, to assess water use, tree replacement, BNG, and solar gain
    ​

  • Use local Richborough teams and consultants and desktop work to reduce transport emissions
    ​

  • Work with landowners, consultants and development partners who have similar environmental aspirations 

Social

We:

  • Ensure planning promotion agreements deliver best value for all stakeholder
     

  • Conduct extensive community engagement with communities near proposed sites 
     

  • Maximise public spaces and facilities in our masterplans , social, cultural, recreational and environmental facilities
     

  • Support charities and organisations in local areas 
     

  • Invite customer feedback to improve our services 
     

  • Pay s106 and CIL contributions as part of our planning application approvals

Governance

We:

  • Enter into Planning Promotion Agreements with landowners, setting out terms and conditions
     

  • Have chartered planners, surveyors, developers, engineers and urban designers on our team
     

  • Are members of industry bodies and steering groups including RICS, RTPI, LPDF Environmental Committee 
     

  • Provide regular progress reports to all landowner partners 
     

  • Fairly market sites to development partners on the open market
     

  • Use a bespoke CRM platform to ensure decisions are data driven
     

  • Monitor and evaluate ESG activity via our ESG taskforce

Business-wide

Environmental

We:

  • Have recycling, waste and paper free office strategies.
     

  • Use energy efficient electrical items and office lighting.
    ​

  • Have a hybrid working policy and use local teams and suppliers to reduce fuel consumption.
    ​

  • Are embarking on a decarbonisation strategy.

  • Offer wellness and mental health support and rewards for all staff members
     

  • Raise thousands of pounds each year for local charities, including St Basils
